Can we say this car was $400,000+ when new? More? Less?
Is there another car* that has lost more USD?
Assuming this car was $400,000-ish, it means it has depreciated $300,000+ish
If so, ultimate Tavarish alert!!!
Why buy a new base rwd Ghibli with very little add-ons when you could buy a Rolls-Royce Phantom
*street legal, normal condition, everyday sort of car for sale at a used car place

They started north of $300k and with options and such, easily over $400k

I could be wrong, but I thought the Phantom was nearer to $550,000.
Though that could be the drophead extended. And in Canuckistan $.

But since it was 11 years ago, take the CPI into consideration: $350,000 then is like $430,000 now. So it’s almost lost it’s original full value in depreciation.
High mileage, though. I say CP.

Only one I could find.

CP - it’s an 11 year old German car approaching 100K people. And how much to replace those hideous wheels?

An 11 year old Phantom in Warren, MI with Florida history, almost 90K miles, and those wheels. What could go wrong?
![]() 06/23/2016 at 11:01 |

British actually.
![]() 06/23/2016 at 11:07 |

Have a car that nice and you throw on ugly wheels. Makes me question how diligent the last owner was on performing maintenance.

As Clarkson mentioned a while back, most of its pieces are German.

These things are worthless with high mileage. Probably the only car that would cost more to keep running than my AMG and Ferrari combined...

Parts are not cheap. I’ve ordered parts from our local dealer before.

We’ve ordered parts for some here. Those things are NOT cheap.

There are other in similar price ranges with regular wheels. But yes, those are gross

![]() 06/23/2016 at 17:34 |

Maybe for non base models

I suspect a lot of people lease these things and move on quick when the new hotness launches. Can’t be caught dead driving the same car for more than a year like some kind of filthy peasant, you know.
I'd also bet a lot of new rolls are custom jobs that are optioned out to the moon. Can't really do that with a pre-owned rolls, so those lose a lot of their value compared to new.
![]() 06/23/2016 at 17:46 |
|
Because its not new, but not old enough to be classic. People that can afford one want a new one, and $200-300k is pocket change to them. One day it will probably start appreciating in value, but that is still many years away. All cars in this price range go through this, most start to appreciate, some never do.

lol so true on that first bit. My customers 100%
Very true about dem customz as well

Who puts almost 90,000 miles on a Rolls? I thought they spent most of their time parked to display their owners’ immense wealth.
Also. What makes these things so damn expensive? I just cannot justify paying that for a car. Good lord, my 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house was 150,000.
![]() 06/23/2016 at 17:54 |
|
Hotel or limo company possibly
My 3 bed 2 bath house was 91,000 (after heavy haggling from 100,000 lol)
I just want to know the exact reason it dropped a possible $300,000 in value.
![]() 06/23/2016 at 17:59 |

It probably will be...but you might have to wait 50+ years.
![]() 06/23/2016 at 18:11 |

Well... I work in warren for the last 10 years off of 8 mile. Seen 2 bodies on the way into work one shooting one hit and run plus the numerous car thefts at work I might be a little jaded. Downtown has gotten better but the surrounding hoods are still a free for all.

Honestly, I kinda wanted to type 100+, but I was like, nah it might get it at 75.

I just ran across this thread, and figured I’d chime in because I live in northern Warren. It’s not the greatest place to live, but it’s a hell of a lot better than 8 Mile, which is literally on the border of Detroit. That said, I don’t think Lavdas Limos has ever operated a Rolls, and can’t think of any Warren establishment rich enough to do so. I’ve been here over three years and can’t remember seeing even a single new Rolls in the area.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 17:35 |

perhaps they purchased it wholesale for cheap (probably at 60% of what it’s listed) and trying to sell it.
Warren, MI on google looks like a square donut, but look fairly normal :]
This is a pretty neighborhood
![]() 07/21/2016 at 18:35 |

Yeah, I could see someone trying to resell it.
It’s not that it’s a
bad
place to live, but everything is so cookie cutter it sometimes feels like Stepford Wives stuff. The houses look the same, the arrow-straight streets look the same, the cars look the same and the lawns look the same. City parks are just square areas of grass and benches. Trees feel like a rarity when compared with suburbs back home in the
Twin Cities
.
In a phrase, it’s the ideal 1950's American Suburb, embodied. Except that most people with enough money have moved north or west; some neighborhoods have declined since the Cold War era as the residents can’t always afford a new roof, siding or lawn care.
